Become a Certified LeSS Coach

You’ve seen LeSS work. You understand the principles. But when it comes to leading an actual adoption —navigating executive resistance, structuring the transition, knowing which battles to fight— you’re operating without a safety net.

The Certified LeSS Coach program changes that.

Who is this for?

The LeSS Coach program serves practitioners who want to deepen their capability to guide organizations toward LeSS adoption:

  • Scrum Masters ready to expand beyond team-level work into organizational coaching
  • Agile and technical coaches who want structured mentorship from senior LeSS practitioners
  • Head of Product/Engineering/CTO Executives leading change efforts based on Lean principles

Whether you’re employed within an organization or running your own coaching practice, the program meets you where you are—and helps you grow from there.

What is the LeSS Coach program?

A one-year mentorship with an experienced LeSS practitioner, focused on your real work.

Your mentor helps you apply LeSS thinking to whatever you’re currently doing—whether that’s a full adoption, partial implementation, or simply bringing LeSS practices into your organization. The goal is practical: move toward LeSS adoption (or start using many elements of it) with expert guidance along the way.

What you get:

  • 24 dedicated mentor hours per year
  • 1-2 calls per month (approximately 2 hours total monthly contact)
  • Ongoing chat and email support between sessions
  • A mentor backed by the LeSS Company who can help you navigate real challenges

Benefits for employed practitioners

Expand your impact. As a Scrum Master, you gain the skills to step outside your daily realm into true organizational coaching. As an internal coach, you develop confidence and depth in your LeSS role—backed by someone who’s done it before.

Increase your value. Certified LeSS Coaches command higher rates and longer engagements than Scrum Masters or general agile coaches. Your employability increases because organizations recognize the credential.

Build real capability. You don’t just learn theory—you apply LeSS to actual situations with expert feedback. Your mentor helps you work through challenges with C-level executives, middle management, and teams.

Join a practitioner community. Access quarterly online dojos where LeSS Coaches and Mentors discuss real coaching problems. Attend the annual in-person LeSS Coach Gathering (held before the Global LeSS Conference). Connect with a network of senior LeSS professionals.

Benefits for independent coaches and consultancies

Teach and certify. Deliver Certified LeSS Basics (CLB) training—a one-day, in-company course. Teaching deepens your own understanding while creating value for clients.

Get found. Your profile appears on LeSS.works, showcasing your experience and the companies you’ve coached. Receive coaching requests directly through the platform.

Grow your business. Access discounts on CLP courses you arrange for clients (a direct value-add you can offer). Get 20% off Global LeSS Conference attendance. Find other LeSS-minded practitioners through the platform when you need to build a team.

Fast-track your career. The LeSS Coach credential creates a direct pathway to becoming a Certified LeSS Trainer—the highest level of LeSS certification.
