Adaptivity Fit - agile transformation map for Agile Coaches and Scrum Trainers

From mess to LeSS - Improving Transformation Results with Adaptivity that Fits

The industry status quo

Many organizations struggle to adopt agile in a way that delivers on its promise to make the company fast, flexible and efficient. Global consultancy firms have great pitches on how to adopt different so-called “agile frameworks”. The marketing is great, but are the results too?

We see how companies (including our clients) get stuck in adopting one of those frameworks - forming “agile teams”, appointing “product owners” and then clustering into “teams of teams”. Thus creating solid structures that make further organizational improvements and adaptability difficult, slow, and expensive. Is that the promise of true Agility?

Sadly, we constantly see how the principles of agility and lean thinking, the northern star of any thoughtful organization, get lost among the agile buzzwords, and get buried in local optimizations.

Context is King

We believe that every organization needs to discover its own agile adoption goal, and then lay down a path to it. “Agile” in abstract terms means very little. But “being agile and adaptive for a specific organization X” might have a lot of meaning! So discovering the northern star to Agility is vital for any organization that doesn’t want just to adopt the agile terminology but start changing itself, its core, its way of thinking and operating.

This session

This work is based on a model that we call Adaptivity Fit: https://www.adaptivity.fit/

In this session, Roland and Alexey will propose a context-driven approach to find the level of adaptivity that fits your situation. The audience will learn a new way of looking at the goal and the path of an organizational transformation towards high adaptivity. And will be offered a realistic palette of corporate transformation strategies.

Decision-makers attending this session will be getting familiar with this model and will be able to re-evaluate an ongoing agile adoption (if any) and see the next horizon. For those who haven’t yet started the journey, we will present a good selection of options with their pros and cons on how to create the roadmap.

Learning Outcomes

In this session, the participants will receive a hands-on thinking tool - Adaptivity Map, that allows participants to design a tailored, long-lasting roadmap to grow their organization's adaptivity towards perfection.
Participants of this session will learn:

  • Understand what a starting point of minimal agility is.
  • How LeSS and LeSS Huge frameworks can be seen as a “perfection vision” rather than an unreachable idealistic view.
  • To identify the pros and cons of different agile transformation approaches (wide and shallow over narrow and deep).
  • Learn how to navigate the Adaptivity map to improve their implementation of agile at scale.
  • To leverage results of Spotify/Tribes-like and SAFe adoptions, their positive and negative dynamics, and how to move forward to overcome negative side effects and grow towards perfection.
