Description :

Stop managing complexity. Start descaling it.

This course is not about yet another agile framework, but understanding what it takes to continuously deliver large / complex products and services, while reducing organizational complexity. At the same time, being able to bring real improvement without compromising agility. It is particularly useful for the more traditional organizations that struggle to get benefits from adopting AI tools, agile practices and roles. These are some of the common challenges addressed in the course:

  • Dependency Hell: How to manage and reduce dependencies between teams, where one team cannot progress because another team needs to finish something first?
  • Lack of alignment: Different teams with different priorities contradicting each other.
  • Communication Bloat or Methodology Theater: Team members and especially different types of managers spending 80% of their day in meetings.
  • Architectural drift: Different teams working on different parts of the product making different architectural choices leading to a dificult to maintain "franken-product".
  • Lack of ownership: Every product has many shared concerns and components. Since each team owns specific "vertical" features of the product or component, it leads to no concern for "horizontal" features shared concerns or shared components. This usually leads to creation of specialized teams for these concerns, which increases complexity and dependency hell.

Viktor's (the trainer) knowledge and experience in how to address these and other complex problems is based on 30 years of experience with multi-team product development. Starting with Port of Rotterdam LeSS adoption 16 years ago, he coached management and teams in many LeSS and organizational change adoptions across Europe (Netherlands, Germany) and Asia (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, China). Most of them in a leading role.

Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is an organizational design system for product development groups with multiple teams. LeSS builds on top of principles such as empiricism, cross-functional self-managing teams and provides a framework for applying that at scale.

The Certified LeSS Practitioner course is an in-depth course covering the LeSS principles, framework, rules, and guides. It provides essential information for adopting and improving LeSS to your product development group. The course contains an overview of LeSS, stories on LeSS adoptions, exercises and extensive LeSS Q&A to ensure we discuss the topics most of the interest to the participants.
