About

Level 1 — Enriching the Relationship with Yourself and Others — is the entry point of the Satir Coaching & Mentoring Program, a three-level path developed by Sharon Loeschen under the Virginia Satir Global Network.

Unlike approaches that focus mainly on cognitive strategies, the Satir approach works with thoughts, feelings, and bodily experience as an integrated whole, and builds on inner resources rather than fixing what's wrong.

This level is designed as a learning event for personal growth. Over three days together, you'll work with these ideas in a way that's experiential and personal. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and a foundation that the rest of the program builds on.

Who this is for

This program is designed for adults with some life and work experience who are interested in personal growth and self-awareness. For those who want to go further, it's also the entry point to the coaching path through Levels 2 and 3.

To make sure participants get the most out of the experience, we ask that applicants are:

  • At least 21 years old
  • Have at least 2 years of work experience

If you're not sure whether this fits where you are right now, the enrolment conversation is a good place to figure that out together.

Course fee

The following fee will be invoiced after the enrolment conversation.

  • Company-sponsored: SGD 820
  • Self-sponsored: SGD 580
  • Early-bird discount: SGD 100 off for applications received by 23 June 2026

All prices are inclusive of GST. The fee includes materials and refreshments.

What the three days look like

Level 1 is highly interactive. Across the three days, you can expect experiential exercises, small group discussions and individual reflection in a supportive setting.

Among the ideas we'll work with:

  • The Five Freedoms — exploring how to express yourself more clearly and freely
  • Coping Stances — recognising automatic responses under stress and practising more congruent ways to respond
  • The Iceberg — looking at the layers beneath surface behaviour
  • Temperature Reading — a structured process for enriching connection
  • Stages of Change — how change unfolds and what supports it

The certification path

The Satir Coaching & Mentoring Specialist Program is a three-level certification path recognised by the Virginia Satir Global Network:

  • Level 1: Enriching Your Relationship with Yourself and Others (This 3-day course)
  • Level 2: Satir Theoretical Concepts and Process
  • Level 3: Satir Coaching and Mentoring Skills (plus supervised practicum)

Completion of all three levels and a supervised practicum leads to certification as a Satir Coaching and Mentoring Specialist. Level 1 also has standalone value, many participants find it deeply useful even if they don't continue to the later levels.

What Previous Participants Say

From a Leader:
"Stanly's training sessions are structured and intentional and take you on a journey of discovery! The insights you gain help you develop clarity and a better understanding of yourself. He creates a safe space and gently encourages you while playing the role of a guide."

From an Agile Coach:
"What I appreciate about the Satir approach is experiencing the human experience through a compassionate lens. For those tired of the zero-sum game mindset, this training offers a new way of viewing the world and practical tools to navigate our way through it. My most remarkable moment was the 'Making Changes' lesson - feeling equipped with what it takes to deal with challenges in both professional and personal life."

From a Software Engineer:
"Enriching Your Relationship with Yourself and Others is an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with yourself at a time when life is fast-paced. Through the conversations with your trainer, you gain awareness and learn how you can utilize your inner resources to manage and improve your social and emotional well-being."

About Virginia Satir and Her Legacy

Virginia Satir (1916–1988) was a pioneer of family therapy and visionary in human development who saw potential where others saw problems. At a time when therapy focused mostly on pathology, Satir championed the idea that people already possess the inner resources to grow and heal.

Inspired by Satir's work, Sharon Loeschen—a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist—developed this program to carry Satir's approach into coaching settings, making her principles practical and accessible for those working in leadership, coaching, and personal development.
