Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is a framework for scaling agile development to multiple teams. LeSS builds on top of the Scrum principles such as empiricism, cross-functional self-managing teams and provides a framework for applying that at scale. It provides simple structural rules and guidelines on how to adopt Scrum in large product development.

The Certified LeSS Basics course is an introduction course about LeSS. It provides an overview of LeSS, including why using LeSS and its complete picture. Moreover, the course expands the two essential elements in LeSS framework - feature team and one product backlog.

The course consists of 3 modules.

  • In the module-1, we start with traditional scaling approach and explain why it often fails, then describe the key idea behind LeSS’s approach for scaling - more with LeSS. Afterwards, we introduce the LeSS complete picture - experiments/guides/rules/principles.
  • In the module-2, we elaborate on one essential element in LeSS framework - feature team. Feature team structure takes all aspects of organizational design into account, and provides a solid foundation for team self-organization and end-to-end value delivery.
  • In the module-3, we elaborate on the other essential element in LeSS framework - one product backlog. We describe both the benefits and the challenges of having one backlog. Then, we share an interesting way to look at cross-team coordination - “maximize dependencies between teams”, quoted from one of the LeSS creators - Bas Vodde.

This course is suitable for anyone who would like to learn about the LeSS basics.

Details :

  • This course is one-day, in-person (max. 20 participants) or online (max. 10 participants)
  • The participants should have solid understanding and practical experience about Agile and Scrum, and preferably hold CSM or the equivalent
  • All participants will receive a CLB certificate, and get an account on less.works.
