Creating a Shared Product Area Across LeSS and SAFe

Our main product organisation works with LeSS. An adjacent product organisation works with SAFe. A business need emerged that crossed the boundary between the two products, so treating the other product as an external dependency was not enough.
We created a shared area where two teams from each organisation started working together on the adjacent product scope. In this talk, we share why we created the area, how we organised collaboration, what worked, what created friction, and what we learned.
This is not a “LeSS versus SAFe” talk. It is a real story about what happens when customer value crosses product, organisational, and framework boundaries.
Key points
We will cover:

- why the shared area was created
- how four teams collaborated across two organisations
- what we aligned: backlog, refinement, reviews, planning, communication
- what remained different because the surrounding organisations were different
- tensions between LeSS and SAFe assumptions
- lessons learned about ownership, transparency, dependencies, and product boundaries

Audience takeaways
Participants will learn how to approach collaboration when LeSS exists inside a broader corporate ecosystem, how to avoid reducing the problem to framework integration, and how to keep the focus on customer value rather than organisational boundaries.
