9th July @ 10:30- 11:05am EST / 4:30- 5:05pm CEST
Sustainability in organizations is often discussed as an additional initiative, goal, or transformation program. This talk takes a different perspective: sustainability as a structural capability.
Using Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) and real-world case studies, the session explores how organizational design influences long-term ecological, social, and economic sustainability. It demonstrates how simplified structures, empowered feature teams, and continuous learning help organizations reduce complexity, improve adaptability, and create resilient systems.
The talk connects LeSS principles with the Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet, Profit) and highlights how end-to-end responsibility, lean thinking, and incremental development can reduce waste, avoid unnecessary production, and support sustainable value creation.
Drawing on examples from automotive, IT infrastructure, and cloud-based products, the session illustrates how organizations can respond to change while maintaining long-term focus and meaningful impact.
Rather than optimizing isolated outputs, LeSS encourages organizations to think in systems, learn continuously, and create conditions for sustainable product development and human-centered collaboration.
